Exploring Park Use and Health in Big Marsh and Surrounding Neighborhoods (Big Marsh) is a community-academic research partnership focused on racial inequities in park use and health on Chicago’s Far South Side. Racial and ethnic disparities in park use and the health effects of use are linked to racial and economic segregation. The project explores these relationships in three park types on Chicago’s far south side: a large eco-bike park (Big Marsh), smaller urban natural areas (Beaubien Woods), and neighborhood parks (Golden Gate). (Funded by ARCC and The Negaunee Foundation)
